Daditude
“You can be young without money, but you can’t be old without it.” –Tennessee Williams
Attitude, they say, is everything. Datitude is everything about growing your kids to be responsible and self reliant, much of which starts with finance and money.
What is it? Where does it come from? Why do we have it? How should they use it?
I am a parent of two teens and a college student who realizes that my kids have long lived in a state of uninformed bliss when it comes to the world of money.
Yes, they have jobs. Yes, they earn their own spending money. Yes, they often spend it unwisely on pricey lattes, high-end earbuds and the next incarnation of Halo 3. Much of this is, I suppose, is normal, but I worry that their cluelessness (is that still cool to say?). will lead them to an adult life of financial ignorance and moneyed depression.
This blog is for parents, but about kids and money, and how to moneylaunch them into the world of understanding AND controlling their finances–and their expectations about life on their own.
Teach self-reliance. Then push the launch button.
